Plastic Planes [Video]

October 1, 2007 – 10:25 am
Dan Rather is without any doubt one of the best reporters who, brings valid issues and in depth interviews from his subjects. In this episode he covers several facts about new and unproven technology with the newly introduced Boeing 787. This model has received much attentions from the press and the curious minds. Boeing 787, is very different than your typical airliners constructed from treated aluminum. The 787 model is lighter and bigger then it's predecessor the Boeing 747, what can we expect from the new fleet of airliners and composite material? Is an interesting questions from safety aspect, and also the future of airliners. Top former and current Boeing engineers believe the new 787 Dreamliner should not be certified to fly since it was built primarily out of high tech plastics called composites.
